Dove's Real Beauty Sketches Campaign

I just wanted to take a few minutes to write a little about Dove's latest Real Beauty Sketches campaign. As a plus sized female I know I am sometimes incredibly critical of my looks - face and body. It's strange how we are so quick to defend others but so many times we are our own worst critics and though we may never utter a negative word about ourselves in our minds we have hundreds of negative thoughts that can overwhelm us and sometimes we don't even realize it's happening. I think that this campaign that Dove has going on can help people see they really are more beautiful than they think they are. I also want to add that physical beauty isn't the most important beauty - we have to strive to be beautiful from the inside out! Target Has Something I REALLY Want and It's SOLD OUT!

Sooo, I have never been crazy about Target's selection of plus size clothing... especially the choices in my local store BUT I've fallen in love with this jacket and it's sold out online (figures). This just screams spring to me and the color reminds me of an Easter egg but, uh, in a good way. So, my local store doesn't have this and I'm wanting it in a bad way. Must... find...

UPDATE!!: I'm not sure if the jacket was restocked or if there was some glitch when I tried to order online but I am happy to announce that I was able to ORDER! Can't wait to get this in my warm, denim hungry paws.

I was just thinking that sometimes I really like styles that I see other people wearing but I would never dream of wearing the same thing myself. Trends come and go but for many of us, I think we create our own personal style. Fashion is an art form and what is appealing to one person may not be attractive to someone else. However, I think I've gained an appreciation for many styles, trendy or not and though, for whatever reason I might not choose the ensemble for myself, I can admire it as an artistic statement. In my opinion, fashion should be fun, very personal and decided upon an individual basis. I take serious issue with self appointed "fashion police" and I wholeheartedly believe in self expression through clothing. So if some days your attire says "total diva" and other days it screams "soccer mom"... you're entitled. I give you permission. =)
